A LEVEL PSYCHOLOGY COURSEWORK – I need ideas for investigations! More info inside… Help?

I have to come up with an interesting idea for my A level psychology coursework and need suggestions. It must be about any of these topics…

* Effects of appearance on compliance
* The influence of physical attractiveness
* The role of attractiveness in relationships

The more orginal the idea the better! Give me as many suggestions as you can think of, whether you think they’re rubbish or not! I just need as many ideas as possible. Thanks x
Thanks Trixie, we studied that experiment and watched a video on it… It really is fascinating! I just don’t know how I could do a similar experiment? x
Desperately need more suggestions! Please help lol x
Thanks ‘justagirl’ but unfourtunately it has to be about attractiveness or appearance… Our teacher chose the topics for us and we can’t do anything different.

Effect of appearance on compliance reminds me of the experiment that Stanly Milgrim did. If someone appears to be in charge, people are more likely to comply with what that person requests. If you don’t know about Milgrim’s experiment, I suggest looking into it. It’s really horrifically fascinating.

*EDIT*
I don’t how feasible this is for you to do, as it will require some “test subjects” (no need to shudder at that phrase! It’s all ethical!) and probably a friend to help.
Go to a public area like a mall, etc. (You can even film or taken pictures of people in a public area as there can be no reasonable expectation of privacy, at least for the US. You still might want to double check though) This experiment requires you to have a survey printed up. It can just be basic questions like what’s your favorite food, color, movie, etc. For the first part of the experiement, wear plain clothes. Ask them to fill out the survey and deliver it to your friend. For the second part, wear a lab jacket and glasses (if you don’t already wear them). You could also try, if it’s legal in your area, to dress like a police officer. (Check first! This is a crime in some areas, so make sure you have the go-ahead before doing this!) Count the number of surveys you hand out to each group and the number returned to you and your friend.
My hypothesis is more surveys will be returned when you wear the lab jacket versus when you wear regular clothes.
You could even add in a third group, where you dress as slovenly as possible and ask them to fill out the survey.
