Construction Violation Question?
Hello, I am in the middle of selling my current flip. I have a contract signed and were closing in 3 weeks. The town inspector came in to issue a certificate of occupancy.Three days later I received a letter in the mail stating that I was in violation for not obtaining a permit for a finished basement and I am ordered to pay a $100 penalty. I did not obtain a permit.I’m having a hard time understanding what this statement means “The certificate of approval for continued occupancy issued by the health department does not confer compliance with this violation. Violations must be satisfied before transfer of title.” Does this mean that I won’t be able to get the certificate of occupancy because of this violation or do I just need to pay the penalty so the title is clear of any fees. I’m assuming the latter.
Only $100?
Pay it.
It could have been a lot worse.
