should you report your tips if your not sopost to make tips?

if you have a job where its not a tip job and ur not tip compliance but you get tips from the servers for helping them (((no its not a bus person job))) do you have to report it to the IRS and if so and you dont what will happen to you

Restraunts are different than other places. If you get any portion of your income from tips they can pay you less than mininum wage. I’m sure you know this, but so does the IRS. Depending on what you do they assume that you part of your income from tips, especially if you make less than mininum. You need to report it. That said (and I don’t mean to steer you to the dark side) they have no way of knowing how much your tips were. I would think if you reported half of your tips they wouldn’t question your tax return, but you didn’t hear that from me!
